Empire magazine front cover analysis - Thor

Although this magazine front cover is not one from our genre, looking at how it fits into it's own genre is a good way for us to learn how we can fit our cover to the horror genre. The cover of this addition is dark which is synonymous with the horror genre although the electric blue titles give the audience the idea the film is not a horror, this shows us the importance of the colour of the titles as it can change the cover dramatically. Thor is the God of thunder and lighting so it is fitting that the titles have lighting bots shooting off of it and onto the hammer. This links the title and the character which if you haven't seen any trailers, will give you a good idea that the man on the cover is the protagonist. Red is generally the colour that draws our eyes to posters and covers, especially for those of the horror genre, although the blue draws our eyes to this, once we have looked, though, the red draws us to further information about the rest of the magazine. On the cover there is one obvious main story or theme to this edition but it does give you more information to other films featured in this edition.
